Breadcrumbing examples: warmth without follow-through.
An affectionate message can feel hopeful. Look at whether repeated contact leads to plans and clarity, or leaves you waiting for the same conversation again.

Imagine someone returning after a long silence with โMiss you,โ then sidestepping every invitation to meet. A repeated cycle like that can leave you waiting for more than the person is offering. A single delayed plan, however, is not enough to establish breadcrumbing.
Contrast โWe should hang out sometimeโ repeated without action with โI can't this week, but I'm free Tuesday.โ The second message offers a concrete alternative. Neither example proves intent; the useful question is whether repeated behavior meets the expectations you have discussed.
This page provides examples and reflection prompts, not a validated psychological test. A report cannot determine whether someone is deliberately keeping you interested.
What to consider
- Do warm messages repeatedly arrive without any concrete follow-through?
- Have you clearly asked what the person wants?
- Are expectations mutual, or are you assuming affection means commitment?
- Would you choose this arrangement if it stayed the same?

What this report looks at
- Disappear-and-return cycles
- Two or more times he went quiet for 3+ days, then came back with a longer-than-usual conversation.
- Flirting without plans
- His affectionate messages keep up with yours while concrete plans stay at one or none.
- Vague promises
- Three or more โwe shouldโฆโ plans with nothing specific.
- Who restarts things
- Who breaks each long silence โ and whether it's always him, on his schedule.
What does breadcrumbing look like over text?
Breadcrumbing looks like sporadic, low-effort attention that keeps hope alive without progress: a flirty text after days of silence, โwe should hang outโ without a date, likes and replies that never become plans. The defining feature is the cycle โ attention, disappearance, return โ repeating without anything moving forward.
- Silences of several days, then sudden attention
- Flirting that never turns into a specific plan
- โWe shouldโฆโ instead of โAre you free Thursday?โ
- He restarts the conversation on his timing
Is it breadcrumbing or is he just busy?
Busy people are usually consistent: slower overall, but plans still happen. Breadcrumbing is inconsistent โ bursts of attention followed by gaps, with warmth that doesn't lead anywhere. Looking at months of history instead of one week is how you tell them apart.

Will you say he's definitely breadcrumbing?
No. When both patterns appear, the report says the behavior is โconsistent with breadcrumbingโ and shows the evidence. We describe patterns, not intentions.
What if only one pattern shows up?
Then it's listed as a mixed signal on its own, without the breadcrumbing label.
